Founded in 2000, the national association supports people with joint diseases, particularly osteoarthritis. It offers peer support, exercise groups, lectures and information on self-care to around 8,000 members and others interested. Volunteers run 31 regional groups across Finland.
Activities take place in person and online. The association trains volunteers and publishes a joint-health magazine and an osteoarthritis guide. Peer support is also available through the Toivo app, run with other organisations. It works with health and social care professionals and policymakers.
