This Finnish Red Cross blood donation centre is on the second floor of the Sanomatalo building in Helsinki. Donors need to be healthy, aged 18 to 65 and weigh at least 50 kg, and first-time donors find out their blood type.
You can book online or drop in to ask about free slots. Before donating, a nurse goes through a health questionnaire with you. The donation itself takes about ten minutes and the whole visit about an hour, with refreshments afterwards. Drivers can use the P-Eliel car park, where two hours of parking are refunded if you give your registration number during the visit. The parking area and entrance are step-free.
