Alvar Aalto designed the wooden boat in 1954–1955 for journeys with Elissa Aalto to the Muuratsalo Experimental House. Lauri Kosola and Väinö Jokinen built the roughly 10-metre-long, 2.5-metre-wide craft in Säynätsalo. It has black sides, mahogany decks and brass fittings and belongs to the Alvar Aalto Foundation's design collection.
It is permanently displayed in a purpose-built shelter at Lutakko harbour, designed by Sweco, with WSP responsible for the harbour tip and terrace. A small Alvar Aalto Museum exhibition stands alongside. Access is step-free for wheelchair users, and an online virtual tour is available.
