Run by a local heritage association, the museum occupies a former grain store converted in 1958. Its collection contains over 1,700 catalogued objects donated by residents. Permanent and changing exhibitions explore local history and notable people. A rare orbicular granite boulder was moved to the yard from Haapaniemi in 1967.
The museum opens seasonally in summer. Guided tours should be booked ahead and are available when a guide is present. School and kindergarten groups are welcome. Card payment is accepted.
