This family-owned fish bakery was founded by Hanna Partanen and has a history stretching back over 100 years. It is known for its traditional handmade kalakukko, filled with perch, vendace and other fish. The range also includes meat, rainbow trout, lamprey and vegetable versions, along with meat and rice pies and doughnuts. Everything is still made by hand from start to finish with Finnish ingredients from nearby areas, and the vendace is fished from Lake Suvas in Vehmersalmi. The kalakukko is baked in the bakery's original alder-wood-fired oven. The business has been owned by Partanen's descendants since her death in 1969.
Products are sold at the bakery shop, at a stall on the market square and through an online shop that delivers across Finland. Customers can park free in the bakery yard. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible, and there is no accessible toilet, accessible seating or hearing loop.
