The regional organisation brings Finnish and Russian speakers together and promotes Russian language learning and cultural exchange. Founded in 1944, the national association is politically and religiously non-aligned and open to everyone. It opposes war, hate speech, racism and discrimination.
The organisation arranges discussion clubs, lectures, film screenings and cultural trips across Finland. It publishes the Finnish-language magazine Venäjän Aika four times a year. Individuals can join as members to support its work.
