The Finnish International School of Tampere (FISTA) is run by the City of Tampere and offers preschool and basic education for grades 1 to 9, with English as the main language of instruction. In 2026–2027 there are about 860 pupils and 110 staff. It began as Amurin kansakoulu, an elementary school opened in 1954; English-language classes started in 1990, and it became international in 2012.
It is intended for children of families living in the Tampere region. Applicants need enough English, checked with a language test, and apply with an online form. The five-storey building has a lift with tactile floor numbers, a wheelchair lift and accessible toilets on floors 2 to 4.
