Housed in the Pyynikinlinna villa in Tampere, this industrial and art museum presents the life and art collection of Emil Aaltonen (1869–1949), a pioneer of Finnish shoe manufacturing. Designed by the architect Jarl Eklund, the villa was completed in 1924, and Aaltonen bought it in 1932 as his home and for his growing collection. It opened to the public in 2004 and is run by the Emil Aaltonen Foundation.
Groups can visit by arrangement, and the programme includes dramatised tours, jazz concerts and art history lectures. The Museokortti and Kaikukortti cards cover the exhibitions. Cards and cash are accepted. The building is not accessible, and only guide dogs are allowed.
