Opened in 1968 in a former milk shop, this Tampere spot began as an experiment by Alko, the state alcohol retailer, and its website says it was Finland's first true neighbourhood restaurant. Its signature dish, the Superpihvi ("super steak"), has been on the menu since the opening year. The bar serves beer, wine and cocktails, and there are vegetarian and children's dishes.
Tables can be booked online, by email or by phone, but staff cannot always answer calls, so email is more reliable. Bookings may be limited to two hours. Takeaway is ordered by phone. Customer parking in front has a two-hour limit, there is outdoor seating, and the entrance and toilets are accessible.
