This restaurant in Tampere serves traditional Finnish food with no pretence and no fuss: clean Finnish ingredients and fine dining without the formality. The name comes from the hay and straw market on Pyynikintori, and the building later served as a weighing house for hay brought by horse cart. The restaurant has been here since 2008.
The à la carte list stays the same from year to year, while the set menu changes regularly; on Wednesdays there is läskisoosi, a traditional pork-in-gravy dish. Dishes are planned a day ahead, so pre-ordering is recommended for late diners. Tables can be booked with an online form. There is outdoor seating, and the entrance and toilet are step-free.
