Run by the City of Turku, this open-air museum shows how craftspeople lived in blocks of wooden houses that survived the Great Fire of 1827. Buildings more than 200 years old stand on their original sites in what was once a poor residential area. Exhibitions cover the houses, courtyards and the year 1827, and in summer there is a separate exhibition for children. Themed tours tell the stories of former residents.
Ticket sales end 30 minutes before closing. Guided tours can be booked online, and an audio guide is available for exploring on your own. There is the Kisälli café and a gift shop. Parking, the entrance and toilets are accessible, and there is a hearing loop.
