Founded in 1920, the association promotes science, literature and art in Swedish-speaking Ostrobothnia. Grants support study, research, writing and artistic work. Its founder, consul Harry Schauman, established a supporting foundation in 1928.
The association publishes books and organises short popular-science talks by researchers, as well as an annual Runeberg celebration. Its grants include doctoral bridges supporting research and study across the Kvarken strait.
