Founded in 2010, the non-profit association runs an annual folk music and folk dance festival. The event grew out of a folk music week first held in 1990. Its programme includes concerts, courses and workshops, with folk music educator Sirpa Lahti as artistic director.
The association also organises a spring outdoor folk dance event at Kotiseututalo Påkas, open to all ages. It works with the local music institute and folk fiddlers.
