This classic café sits on Senate Square, opposite Helsinki Cathedral, in the Sunnin talo building, one of the city's oldest stone houses. It was built in 1765 on the site of a former pipe factory, the upper floors were added in the 1830s, and the facade was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel. The kitchen serves breakfast, warm meals and weekly daily specials, and at weekends and on public holidays breakfast runs into the afternoon.
Tables can be booked by phone during opening hours. The sailcloth-covered courtyard can be hired for private events with tailored catering, and heaters and blankets are provided on cooler days. Handwritten gift cards can be collected on site or sent by post.
