This small early childhood education centre is in Munkkiniemi, close to services, playgrounds, shores and forests. Children are placed in mixed-age groups called Mini-Ankat, Midi-Ankat and Maxi-Ankat. Group sizes are small so that each child gets individual attention. Activities are bilingual: children learn Finnish and English in daily routines. Learning is child-led and happens through play, movement, exploration and themed topics. There are regular weekly forest trips and art activities, and cultural diversity is part of the programme.
The daily rhythm is predictable, individual encounters matter, and cooperation with families is close. Every meal includes salad, crispbread, milk and water, and meat dishes are of Finnish origin. The head teacher is early childhood education teacher Marjukka Nieminen.
