Part of Helsinki University Hospital (HUS), this children's hospital is the largest in Finland focused on demanding paediatric specialist care. Patients come from all over the country, from newborns to 15-year-olds, and paediatric heart surgery, organ transplants and severe childhood cancer treatment are centralised here. Units include the children's emergency department and paediatric and neonatal intensive care.
Ordinary X-rays need no appointment, while MRI and other imaging must be booked. For families there is a café, a parents' lounge, a chapel and an OLKA support point, with social workers, chaplains and peer-support volunteers on hand. The entrance and car park are accessible.
