Since 1932 this Helsinki artists' restaurant has been a haunt of actors, musicians, writers, dancers and visual artists, and their works hang on the walls. The actor Tauno Palo had his regular seat here and the creamy onion patty is named after him, while Vova's vorschmack (minced meat with herring) honours a former doorman. Salmon soup is another classic.
The dining room is below street level. Art in the bar and window gallery changes monthly, and in summer there is a leafy terrace that does not take bookings. Tables can be booked online, with the last bookings taken two hours before closing. The entrance is not step-free.
