This Helsinki restaurant opened in 1939, and its name refers to the founder's roots on the Karelian Isthmus. Sailors and dockers were the early regulars, and when they left in the mid-1970s things went quiet. In the 1980s it was revived by the live music association Elmu and the Radio City crowd from the nearby Lepakkoluola. The kitchen serves traditional Finnish home cooking, and a jukebox lets guests pick the music.
