Founded in 1947, the non-profit association organises international voluntary work camps and belongs to the peace organisation Service Civil International. It began by repairing damage from the Lapland War with Quaker support. Alongside work camps, it runs winter weekend camps, workshops, conferences and camp leader training.
It arranges long-term volunteer placements abroad and recruits organisers for summer camps in Finland. Activities for asylum seekers and immigrants have been part of its work since 2010. Weekly volunteer workshops take place at Rauhanasema, the Peace Station.
