This Helsinki-based federation is the national youth organisation of the YMCA movement in Finland, handling national and international cooperation, projects and advocacy. The worldwide movement dates back to 1844. Local YMCAs operate in 30 towns across Finland, and their hobby activities and youth work are open to everyone.
Youth work includes street outreach, drop-in meeting places, employment support for young people, services for immigrants and a night-time youth service. Hobbies range from sports and music education to Y-Scouts, alongside family support, youth clubs and camps. Development cooperation runs in six countries, including Kenya and Ukraine.
