Founded in 1944, the civic organisation brings Finnish and Russian speakers together and promotes Russian language learning and cultural knowledge. Politically and religiously non-aligned, it is open to everyone. Activities include discussion clubs, lectures, film screenings and cultural trips.
Individual membership is available. It publishes the Finnish-language Venäjän Aika magazine four times a year and campaigns against war, hate speech, racism and discrimination. The premises' car park is not wheelchair accessible.
