Formed through the merger of two floating associations in 1993, the organisation arranges bundled timber rafting on the Vuoksi waterway system. Tugboats tow bundles to pulp and wood-processing mills. Softwood pulpwood and plywood logs are stored in water until the mills need them, with annual floated volumes exceeding half a million cubic metres.
Operations are carried out with Perkaus Oy, which maintains waterways, equipment and structures and handles rafting, water transport and storage. About 20 loading piers serve the Kallavesi, Pielinen and Tasavesi-Saimaa waterways. The partner company was established in 1913 to develop water transport.
