This national organisation of people with intellectual disabilities and their families has an office in Tampere. Its members include local, regional and national associations and 14,300 individual members, and its work centres on peer support and advocacy. Its work also includes adult courses, family support, the Malike programme, the Norio Centre for rare disorders and the self-advocacy group Me Itse ry.
It gives legal advice and publishes guides, and its activities are open to everyone regardless of diagnosis. Some events need advance registration, and some training is free. The entrance, toilet and parking area are accessible, and the website also has Swedish, English and Estonian pages.
