Run by the City of Tampere, this art museum opened on the shore of Lake Näsijärvi in 1979. It looks after the Sara Hildén Foundation collection of around 4,500 works, including pieces by Joan Miró, Francis Bacon, Paul Klee and Alberto Giacometti alongside Finnish modern and contemporary art. Changing exhibitions focus on international modernism and contemporary art, and a sculpture park sits in the lakeside landscape outside.
Public guided tours run on Sundays at 1 pm, and private tours can be booked for groups. Children under 7 and Museum Card holders get in free. Café Sara serves pastries and savoury food made on site. The entrance, toilets and parking are accessible.
