This Tampere grill kiosk has been serving since 1962. Its classics include the Kivimies, created as a lunch for working men, and the Kuuma Koira (literally 'hot dog'), on the menu since the early 1990s: sweet doughnut dough with a savoury filling, devised in the 1950s by Teodor Leppänen of Nokia. There are also hot dogs, sausage and chips, meatballs and vegetarian and vegan options, with ingredients from local producers.
You order at the hatch, and in the last 15 minutes before closing only items kept warm in the steamer are sold. There is a changing special every Monday. Mustard made by Vaakko himself is sold at the window, along with merchandise. The kiosk has step-free access.
