The building was completed in 1962 as a student dormitory and summer hotel, and its restaurant has kept the same name ever since. Food service stopped in the 1980s, and the place remained a largely unrenovated bar until 2014, when a full renovation followed; the kitchen reopened in 2015. Today this Helsinki bistro serves Finnish food and beer from its own small brewery, with karaoke on Fridays and a pub quiz for teams of one to five on Saturdays.
