The service works with people who use violence outside the home, those leaving criminal groups and their close circles. People recognising serious violent tendencies can also attend. The method was developed at HelsinkiMissio, with operations beginning in 2006.
Participation is voluntary, without a requirement for sobriety or being crime-free. Meetings are arranged by phone, and people can apply regardless of their home municipality. Sexual offences and violence confined to intimate relationships are outside the service's scope.
